J Hamilton is an American writer whose literary works were first discovered in Seattle Gay News. He started out as a freelance journalist working for various publications and soon joined SGN at the age of 17, where he wrote for 2 1/2 years, sharing a weekly column called “Out & About” (2001-2003). His charismatic way of writing introduced millennials to his unique world as he expressed topics about the struggles of coming out, the relationships he encountered, and the life lessons he faced.
In 2009, he redirected his concept of writing through blogging (blogger.com). Incorporating his weekly blogs with music captured many as he tells a heartfelt and heartbreaking story. Though some were uncertain between reality and fiction, Episodes Of Jaden, the name of the blog, immediately gain popularity through Twitter back in 2010. The depiction of his characters dealing with life choices and the suspense it brought were influential, especially among the LGBT community. The story blog received many positive reviews due to its candor, poignancy, and relatable subject to modern gay community. During the process of turning in his manuscript to a publisher, J Hamilton was approached by CNN iReport that brought more audience to EOJ and was soon recognized as a public figure to the LGBT community. As a continued gay advocacy, he participated in NOH8 Campaign, a charitable organization whose mission is to promote LGBT marriage, gender and human equality.
Hamilton’s debut novel, “EPISODES OF JADEN: …waking up is where it simply begins” was published in 2011. After gaining more audience in other countries, he recently announced the EOJ Mysteries will be a three-book series. He lives in Seattle, Washington with his husband, and their two lovely dogs named Mr. Fitz and Harvard. He is currently in the process of finishing his next mystery novel.
